    Mosin Nagant Project

I have one of these great rifles, I have decided to sporterize it! here is what I am thinking:

    $45.00 for the stock
    http://www.combathunting.com/MOSIN_N...tallation.html

A Timney trigger for $$90.00 or a Hubber trigger for $80.00
    http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...m_campaign=649
    http://www.huberconcepts.com/Mosin-N...eplacement.htm

Scope mount and bolt handle for $38.00 ($100.00 or so for install at the local gun smith)
    http://www.milsurpstuff.com/proddetail.asp?prod=MOI0600

Im still not sold on a scope, I want to keep it on the $100.00 or less, any suggestions? im looking at this tru-glo 3-9x44
    http://www.sksstocks.com/TruGlo-Maxu.../TRU-TG853.htm
    or this Simmons 3-9x50
    http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=617372

    I figure $25 on a bi-pod
    http://store.a51tactical.com/index.p...6&currency=USD

    $10-$20 for rings

    $20 for a cheek riser
    http://www.sksstocks.com/BlackHawk-S...-90cp00bk-.htm

I will have a gun that will shoot close to MOA at 100 yards

I'm not on a budget at all, I just want to show that it is possible to build a "decent sniper rifle" for around $500

Making alot of progress with this custom! I had a extra Remington stock that came with the 700 varment, after looking it over i had a squirly idea to make it fit the mosin! After demeling, drilling, cutting and epoxying I got it to work! I used some spare metal I had around and some metal tubing, it mounts rock solid and it is alligned perfectly. These are pics from earlier this weekend. There is alot more progress then this. I will post updated pics soon!

The first picture is a mock up of how the rifle will sit (better fit now)
The second is me getting the rear sights off (pain in the ass)

More recemt pictures of modding the remington 700 stock to fit a mosin m38, there is still work to be done. The hard parts are over, like mounting the action properly and making sure it was alligned (which was a big pain) just some more sanding and notch for the new bolt handle. thinking of doing a russian camo job on it with dura coat.

So... I have decided on a few things for this project... first off putting a decent bushnell scope on this puppy(http://swfa.com/Bushnell-3-9x40-Trop...pe-P45461.aspx), then I am going with the timney trigger (even though I will have to do more inletting(see above for link)) I am going to toss on a russian camo duracoat paint job too (http://www.houtsenterprises.net/dur_russianarmy.html). I just got the muzzle break in for this and will post pictures soon!
